Government College for Elementary Teachers H-9 is famous for its multidimensional programs for the betterment of education. Science Day was a held in this context on 28th May, 2008.This day was organized under the supervision and guidance of Mrs Aneela Hasan S.S.S Physics Government college for elementary teachers H-9 Islamabad who got an opportunity of attending a training course for Southn Asian countries in 2006 at Japan on “Scince Experiment with low cost experiment in Primary education.The science day was assisted by Mrs Talat Hasmi S.S.S Home economicsThe main objective of organizing this day was to impart and implement the training..All the students participated actively in the program. Students were very enthusiastic. Science day was celebrated on the motto Science as Fun and to eradicate the old methods of science education. The main objective of organizing this day was to make science interesting and effective with the help of low cost experiment and create interest in science at elementary level introduce science as a fun. Simple, effective and interesting methods of science teaching were described. Science day was divided into three basic parts
1. Science Show
2. Learning Laboratory
3. Science Exhibition
Science quiz was made a part of the science show.
 

The objective of science was to create interest in science by introducing science as a fun. Science day was effectively managed by the president of science society Faiqa Batool while the different sections were managed by their respective incharges. The program was started with the Holy name of ALLAH, afterwards science fun activities were presented. These activities were funny in nature but aimed at the learning of a concrete scientific concept. The incharge of science show was Sidra Qaseem who also fulfilled the responsibility of comparing. Science jokes and interesting scientific questions were also a part of the science show.
Science quiz was leaded by Saba Najum ul seher and Faiqa Batool.two teams were made Einstein Team and Newton Team.
 

The show got its real value when the Director of Federal College of Education joined in. He also appreciated the show and its theme. Next was The learning laboratory whose incharge was Umaira while Sadia nawaz assisting her. In this laboratory an overview was given of the tools and aids used in science teaching. Top of the list were CDs, Transparencies, Magazines, Newspapers, Posters, Science kit(provided by SAP and PMSP), pictures and Flash cards. Members of NISTE also joined in at that time, they also appreciated the effectiveness and usefulness of this laboratory in the teaching of science.

 The motto of science exhibition was Low Cost- No Cost A/V Aids, which aimed at the effective and interesting teaching of science with limited resources. The in charge of exhibition was Nuzhat Musharaf who also helped in the arrangement of exhibition. Different Models, Working Models and experiments were included in the exhibition to explain scientific concepts.

Members of NISTE and Sir Tallat Khursheed showed their keen interest in the exhibition. they asked different questions from the students regarding their models or experiments and also gave their useful suggestions.
In the end students were also rewarded with prizes in acknowledgment of their efforts. First prize was given to Saba Najum ul Seher for her experiment COLOUR FIRE WORKS.

Second prize was rewarded to Saba Najum U Seher and Faiqa Batool for their working model of Steam Engine Boat and the third prize was given to Sidra Qaseem for her fault and Fold Model of geology. Over all prize of honour for good work and co-operation was awarded to Saba Najum Ul Seher, Sidra Qaseem, and Faiqa BAtool. The soul and the cynosure of the Science day was Mrs. Aneela Hassan whose untiring efforts brought this day into life. She motivated the students, gave them guidance and also provided her personal resources for the success of the program. Mrs. Abida Mukhtar and Mrs. Tallat Hashmi also helped Mrs. Aneela and students a lot in this context. the principal of college Mrs. Farah Yasmeen also appreciated the efforts of students a lot and gave them her valuable advice. The day ended with lots of experiences and learning for both students and Teachers.
