Message from JICA Chief Representative, Pakistan
A trained Human Resource is a fuel for the economic engine of any economy, whether developed or in
the process to become so. Pakistan is one of the developing countries; therefore, a competent workforce is indispensable. Realizing this important factor, JICA embarked upon training of the government officials, to capacitate them for efficient and effective utilization of the resources and better service delivery to the public at large. These training courses are customized to meet the need of the officials in government service, so they may employ the learned skills and knowledge to their work, once they are back to office.
JICA initiated the training program for Pakistan in 1954 and till to date more than 4000 government officials from different ministries/departments have been trained in Japan. JICA Alumni Association of Pakistan (JAAP) was established at Islamabad in 1989, with the aim to foster closer relations and more fruitful mutual assistance between JICA’s Ex-participants. JAAP is JICA assisted Association involved in strengthening and development of friendly ties and cooperation between Pakistan and Japan; To develop contact with JICA and various institutions in Japan, with a view to exchanging information of mutual benefit and to promoting friendship and technical know-how among the members of Association. Currently, the Association has a total number of 1127 members from fields like engineering, medical, police, media, managers, academics etc.
I am fully confident, that JAAP will carry on with its important role and will continue to act as a bridge not only between Pakistan and Japan but amongst the members by sharing their acquired skills and experiences, for the greater benefit of the of the people of Pakistan.
Sincerely,
Takatoshi Nishikata,
Chief Representative,
